Conister Trust Limited is the Banking Division of the Conister Financial Group (CFG PLC) that was formed as part of a ‘Scheme of Arrangement’ in January 2007. Conister Trust Limited (formally Conister Trust PLC) is an Isle of Man based company, established in 1935. Conister Trust Limited is a licensed Independent bank, regulated by the Financial Supervision Commission in the Isle of Man.

Conister has traditionally operated in the Asset Finance area providing finance to companies and individuals on the Isle of Man; to military personnel through its operation in Peterborough and to small / medium enterprises clients through its operation in Wigan.

Conister continues to broaden its ability to provide customer with solutions to all their financial requirements. Conister can now help clients who are buying a property overseas, a Jet, a Yacht or a Car or need help with planning their investments or help with retirement planning.

Over the last 2 years Conister has successfully opened up two new growth segments, namely Premium Finance and Fiduciary Deposits.

Premium Finance

This is effectively a loan to a customer to pay for an insurance premium and borrowing has grown from £5m in 2006 to an expected £35m in 2008.

Fiduciary Deposits

This is a service introduced during 2007 for High Net Worth Clients and Corporate Clients who want to mitigate the risk of placing all of their funds with one financial institution. Conister places the funds on behalf of the clients, in various currencies, across a range of high quality banks, for which a fee is charged. This business has grown from £65m under management in 2007 to well over £150m by May 2008.

Named after Conister Rock, one of the Isle of Man’s enduring symbols, our bank can truly claim to have stood the test of time. With its history dating back to 1935 Conister Trust enjoys a reputation of serving the local community, both as a bank and also as a sponsor of local events. The Company is proud of its Manx heritage and it will continue to work for its established local clientele.

Conister was founded in Douglas in 1935 as the Isle of Man's first major provider of credit finance. The vast majority of its shareholders are residents of the Isle of Man. Whilst not appearing in bank rankings based on size, the interest rates by Conister on deposits are often the highest to be found in the British Isles.
